Sony in trouble: Finally, a price cut for PS3

It seems the Sony management finally identified the companies biggest problem these days: The price of its Playstation 3 system. According to an interview Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer gave the Financial Times today, the Japanese CE giant is seriously considering a drastic price drop. Sony boss Stinger seems to have recognize that part of the competition’s success -especially the Nintendio Wii system- is simply based on the facy that it is cheaper then the Sony video gaming console.

So far Sony apparently believed the Wii and PS3 aren’t in direct competition because of their unique attributes and demographic appeal. Analysts tended to agree. However, Sony’s real target isn’t the Nintendo system, but the Xbox console from the Microsofties in Redmond .

A grwoing number of industry insiders and media outlets now even ask, if the PS3 can survive for long since the third generation of the once dominating Playstation gaming console is doing so poorly, and it’s costing Sony Millions of Dollars, that one can wonder how much longer Sony can afford to keep this painful money looser.
